Main Article - The Future vs. Here and Now 3.) Subscribe/Unsubscribe Info 1.) Power Thought - How do you react to change? Change happens to everyone and everything. It is the one ironic constant in the universe. Everything changes. How do you react to it? Do you fear it. Dread it? Loathe it? Embrace it? Anticipate it? Hope for it? People almost always hate change. It is the unknown. Unknown means pain for most people. That's why they dread it. But the unknown is opportunity embodied. Change is neither good nor bad. It is how you REACT to it. You interpret events all the time. Change is simply an event that can be turned to your advantage or disadvantage. 2.) Main Article - The Future vs. Here and Now I have often commented that certain people live "in the here and now". Where else might one live you ask? Certainly at any one moment in time, you live in the here and now, but what I am referring to is more HOW they live, rather than WHEN or WHERE they live. To live in the here and now, you must cut off all effort to forge the future you want. And you must not even consider that you CAN forge the future you want. Sounds awful. Why would we want to do that? Because most people don't know any better. They never were taught that destiny is not what happens TO you; it's what you create. I have a couple of good friends that live in the here and now. We share just about the same beliefs and values, except I know that I create my future. Entirely. 100%. They do too. They just don't realize it. They have been fed the belief that you get a college degree, get a J.O.B. (Just Over Broke), take it on the chin when they downsize, regroup, update the old resume and start the dance all over with a new, just-as-fickle partner. Work until someone tells you to retire and take your social security and what you have managed to save to live on. Be a good citizen by doing what everyone else does. Don't rock the boat. Be safe. Yeccchh! I love them dearly, but wouldn't trade my hard work and struggles (and they have been many and daunting) to be where they are. One day in the near future I will have attained a level of financial success, freedom and security that it will take them another 30 years to do with a job. Why? Because my focus, my desires, my goals and dreams have always been on my future and how I wanted to create it. I have taken the idea that I am control and acted as if I am right. They have taken the idea that they are NOT in control and acted upon it. And we are both right, because it's what we BELIEVE TO BE TRUE! If you believe you can control and shape your future, you will. It may be a hard road. It may be an easy road. It may even be impossible to create the future you want right now. But if you don't start laying the foundations of that future now, it will never happen. And neither will any other except the one where you live in the here and now. It's not even a nice place to visit and I certainly don't want to live there. Do you? Thanks, Tim
