1.) Publisher's Note

Greetings, Maniacs! It's already March and it has been WEEKS since our last ezine. For that, we profusely apologize. "No excuses..." That's what it says at the top, so on we go.

I think you will be seeing some changes in the ezine in the coming weeks. We are going to shorten it and make the articles and topics more focused and action oriented. That is, after all, the point of SuccessManiacs... Taking the complex and making it not only understandable, but useable and doable for the average Joe and Jane.

We'll still have a main article and will probably have a Recommended Resource. We may not always have a Power Thought. The point is to keep everything readable and enjoyable. The last thing we want is for you to get bored waiting to get to the point.

That being said... Let's move on, shall we?

2.) Recommended Resource - PowerFire Training Group

By now, all of you should know how much we love and appreciate the training material by Doug Firebaugh. Doug is a close friend and one of the best mentor's I have ever had.

Doug has put together a new website that will be a one-stop shop so to speak for all his projects and products. If there is something you want to know about Doug, his schedule and his products, PowerFire.com is the place to go. It links back to Doug's other sites like PassionFire.com and his partner sites (like SuccessManiacs.com). Plus you can subscribe to ALL of his ezines there as well.

The URL is http://www.PowerFire.com

Go there now and look in the store. Doug is promoting a new CD based on his DailyFire ezine. The CD will take each quote and commentary and expand on it and talk about it for 3-5 minutes.

It's DailyFire on STEROIDS! The CD will normally sell for $15 plus $3.50 S&H but it's available now on PRE-ORDER for 20% off. That's $12.00 plus S&H for a total of $15.50 shipped to your door.

This special price will only last until March 31. April 1st is when the CDs are scheduled to ship and that is when the price returns to normal.

3.) Article - Sacrifices

It's Ash Wednesday today, the start of Lent. It's a special time when you are supposed to reflect and pray on the sacrifice made for all of us and make your own personal sacrifice. I know many people don't have an interest in that subject and even get offended at the mere mention of such things, so I will take this in a little different direction...

A sacrifice is when you give up or deny yourself something you really like, want or desire and would have done anyway. This last part is the key. It's not a sacrifice to say, "I am going to cut down on my over time to work on my business." if you weren't really putting in that much time, enjoying it or going to continue no matter what you do in your business.

I bring this up because, though we have all the time in the world, we have a finite time to start with which is eaten up almost entirely before we even get to working on our dreams. We have family, work, church, friends, the kids' activities, etc. We have to carve out some time to work on the business at hand, so something must be sacrificed.

Sometimes you can just cut back on your TV time or bowling or going out to create the time necessary. Or you can combine these activities because some of them put you in contact with potential customers and business partners.

The only problem with that is that it doesn't put a cost on the sacrifice. It doesn't make you burn to use that time well and wisely. It doesn't make the time worth spending WELL.

That is the key to making time for anything and everything. The cost of doing something that is hard now must be great enough to encourage great effort on your part to be successful. You have to really WANT to do it well and do it right. If you do, you will then be able to go back to what you sacrificed temporarily and truly enjoy it. That is the point.

Who cares if you give up watching 2 hours of TV each night? Is that why you have a business or your own? So you can watch TV an extra 2 hours a day? If so, stop what you are doing. I mean it. Stop now and quit your business opportunity and send back all your training tapes. Unsubscribe to all those ezines.

Reclaim those two hours NOW! Don't wait!

OK. Now that we got rid of them, we take action. These are the steps to take:

  1. Decide what your ultimate goals are for you and your business in the next 3-5 years. This is what you are shooting for. This will let you guage how much you need to sacrifice in order to acheive these goals. If the goals are small, the sacrifice is small. If the goals are big, the sacrifice is big.
  2. Write down what you will sacrifice to achieve these goals. Be specific and definite. Also be flexible. Sometimes you come up with a something that works better for you. Don't lock yourself in. Choose the sacrifices to be made and commit to a time frame to begin, the level or intensity and what you get out of the sacrifice.
  3. Adjust accordingly. If you are having no success or it's unbalanced or affecting your relationships, or generally messing up your life too much, it's time to choose another sacrifice. The costs must bring you greater rewards, not less and the costs must be things you can give up in the short term for the greater good down the road.
  4. Stop. This is something we often forget. We sacrifice so much for success and then achieve it, but forget to stop and enjoy the fruits of our labors. When have achieved what you set out to do, then scale back or stop the sacrifices. Especially if it was time with friends and family. Review what those ultimate goals were often to remind you of WHY you sacrificed. When the sacrifices are no longer required, stop. Enjoy what you have gained.

This last step is so important. We forget to enjoy what we have earned or been given because of our sacrifices. If you are serious about achieving Success with a capital "S", then this method will help you put it into perspective and see what needs doing.

So, what are you willing to give up to create your dreams?

And are your dreams WORTHY of the sacrifice?

Fric.
