1.) Publisher's Note

Greetings, Maniacs! Here we are already almost halfway through 2003! Unbelieveable... Also unbelievable is how busy it's been this year. So busy that we have had to let this eZine suffer. For that we apologize.

Our article this week is a continuation of our Skills vs. Will article. We have talked about it a lot and now will discuss some ideas and techniques that might help push you over the edge from inaction into action.

Have you ever wondered why some people take the same experiences and training and education and backgrounds and end up with wildly different results?

Have you ever not used all the things you have learned?

Have you ever known what to do, and not done it anyway?

Have you ever taken the wrong path, even if you knew it was wrong?

If you are human (and not lying), you would say "YES!" to all three items. Probably dozens or even hundreds of times in your whole life.

We all do this. Especially those of us who make a study and habit (or the attempt at any rate) of personal development. We know all the techniques... Goal setting... Visualization... Taking action... NLP... The Tony Robbins tapes... The Zig Ziglar tapes... Jim Rohn... Doug Firebaugh... Less Brown... Praying... Wishing... Dreaming... etc. etc. etc.

So why don't we all succeed? Heck, why don't we all at least make the attempt? We have the skills or at least know how to acquire them. Why don't we do it?

I think skills are great. And overrated at the same time. Look at professional sports. Are the greatest players the most skilled or the hardest working? Usually the latter and often the hardest working become the most skilled too. But what makes people work harder?

Is it a big vision? Sometimes.

Is it fear? Sometimes.

Is it desire for more money? Sometimes.

Is it to provide for their family? Sometimes.

I believe it is your will that makes a difference. If you have been reading this ezine for a while or read the Archives, you know that I have often said, "Anyone CAN do a thing, but WILL they?"

Will you get off your butt and take action?

Will you figure out where you desire to go and begin the journey?

Will you work with those who can help? Will you bring others with you?

Will you develop your self before, during and after you develop your business?

At this point in time I honestly believe that there is no one thing or even group of things I can teach you that will get you over this hump. I don't think ANYONE can.

If you have been working on self-development for any length of time, you probably have a vision or an idea of your basic goals and desires. Maybe it's not totally clear yet. You also know a lot of techniques and strategies to get you there.

So what is stopping you? Really stopping you?

You are. Nothing else and no one else. You see, the problem with most training material is that it is external to you. It's not a PART of YOU. Just knowing how to succeed isn't enough to succeed. You still have to take action, and the only way to do that is to internalize your goals, vision, desires, destination or whatever you call it.

Until you internalize these things, you will never act upon them. You will never reach them and you will never get going. Your butt will stay on that couch.

So, you have the skills. You CAN...

But WILL you?

(Next week, we will discuss some ways to internalize and take action. But again, it's still up to YOU. You are the linchpin, not the techniques and tools. They can only provide a spark.)
